Spotlight has returned to Bucharest, Romania.
Last week, another edition of the Spotlight Summer School took place in Bucharest, thanks to the support of the Center for Governance and Culture in Europe at the University of St. Gallen (GCE-HSG), New Europe College (NEC), and UNATC.
This year's theme, "More Than Human", focused on contemporary challenges and strategies related to cohabitation among the diverse inhabitants of modern cities. Twelve students from across Europe and beyond — representing Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, Poland, Norway, China, Italy, Romania, and Germany — participated in this project. The result was four short films: Boss of the Garden, Ursa - She-Bear, Close Your Eyes and Enjoy the Noise, and I Would Call Them Cutu Cutu.
On September 27, the first screening of the films took place at the UNATC cinema. Two additional screenings occurred on September 29 at CINETIc in Bucharest, Romania, as part of the second SPOTLIGHT seminar titled "More-Than-Humans in the Semi-Peripheries: A SPOTLIGHT Summer School Seminar on Ways of Seeing and Being Seen as Other Species," and on September 30 at the UNESCO Chair in Interculturality, Good Governance, and Sustainable Development at the University of Bucharest.
Further screenings are scheduled for October 6 as part of the "Opoleksie Lamy" film festival, Opole, Poland, and on October 8 at the "Bolzano Art Weeks" in Bolzano, Italy.
